Alright, I'll start tinkering with this as well.

Is it as easy as using the standard flashing tools and naming this RUU_signed.nbh or on microsd Kovskysgm.nbh?

HOW TO ADAPT (Hex-Edit) RADIOS FROM OTHER HTC PHONES FOR THE XPERIA X1

I used XVI32 to hex-edit the radios
Beware: DON'T CHANGE OR MESS ANYTHING ELSE BUT WHAT'S DESCRIBED HERE

STEP 1 Open the radio file (*.nbh) with the Hex-editor

STEP 2 On the right panel (decimal values panel), change "whatever***" to "KOVS*****" as shown on attached pic. Beware: it must have 5 "*"s

STEP 3 On the left panel (hexadecimal panel), change value in hexadecimal address 60 (Adr.hex:60=Adr.dec:96) from "01" to "00" as shown

STEP 4 Save as "KOVSimg.nbh" assuming you will flash from microSD or "RUU_signed.nbh" to flash from PC
(to be honest, I found that the Radio Update Utility don't mind the file name as long as it is *.nbh - name it whatever you want and will flash anyway :D but I followed the "RUU_signed" stuff as a known standard)

STEP 5 Fiat lucem (flash and enjoy) ;)

NOTICE 1: Attached pic shows STEP 3 precise localtion (Adr.Hex:60)
NOTICE 2: I tested a dozen radios from Diamond, Blackstone etc on a SECURITY UNLOCKED phone. Flashing to a security locked phone can result in: a) flashes OK and works OK but the updated radio version number will not be displayed b) failure to flash due to CID lock; no harm to the phone, just reboot or re-flash any Xperia orignal radio

Happy flashing

;)

As I have an Italian Rom, flashing from SD won't work - only seems to work for WWE - could anybody confirm that it works also with USB (Ruu_image.nbh)??
thanks

be aware that gtrab has a security unlocked device, so other devices radios may flash for him better.

i use sdcard method all the time, but having got stuck in bootloader a couple of times experimenting with different radios, its not a bad idea to keep the radio(no hard reset) custom ruu handy to get it back to a working one.

on a side note this newer xperia radio 1.10 seems to have much better battery life, currently on 80% after flashing yesterday lunchtime, so 18 hours on, 30 mins wifi, 25mins of calls, 30 mins of mobipocket quite a lot of tinkering and 5mins on usb

so far so good, i think not searching for a signal all the time must be making the difference!

i may try the other radios, but can't see much point at the mo this ones so good

thanks

sd card wouldn't work for me either kept saying "No image file found"

so i went for the usb method but it got to 99% & gave an error, so worrying my ass off i took the battery out like it told me to do & then turned the device back on & Device Information is reporting that it worked.

Am I right in thinking that flashing the Radio doesn't wipe the ROM image back to a clean state?

So I can flash a new Radio without backing up everything?

it shouldnt do, but it did for me once.
this is windows back everything up!

Cheers for the reply.

I live on the edge (read: I'm lazy) so I'll give it a go without a backup.

Is there a prefered Radio to use? I've got hold of the edited Blackstone 1.10.25.25 Radio. I'm on O2 in the UK and the stock Radio is just pants. I was initially blaming O2 but I know people locally who have far better signal and HSDPA access with O2.

ehm, sorry if this question was asked before. but even with the search i wasn´t able to find what the ... "radio" should be.
i´m glad i managed to flash a new rom after 2 weeks of reading through the board, and suddenly something like this pops up :)

is it interesting for me as newbe after all??

thanks for your patience...

Thanks.

Bunch of radios uuuuploaded

OK guys,

I've been working, I hex-edited to Xperia X1 and PROPERLY FLASHED 9 RADIOS  including the original one (just in case, to go back)

They all worked fine, NO MORE "VERSION" ISSUE (thank for this one fards, IOU a beer buddy !!). I've been having fun the whole day testing each one of them :D as a little kid

A small, fool-proof "HOW TO" I wrote is included with each radio.
I uploaded them all, they are AVAILABLE HERE TO DOWNLOAD for your testing pleasure ;)

HAVE FUN !!

:eek::eek:
WONDERFUL FEEDBACK, thanks a lot prosto

All those radios flashed OK on my security-unlocked device, but not in yours...
I personaly hex-edited them following "fards" instructons) except for Radio 1.10.25.18 (the only one you flashed successfuly)

Maybe I am doing something wrong

FARDS CAN YOU PLEASE CHECK ONE OF THE RADIOS I HEX-EDITED TO FIND DIFFERENCES WITH YOURS ??
