What is card update? which card need to be updated?

a:
SmartCard update required to use 1.107 and following setool2 versions.
All SEtool cards with serial numbers till 177500 must be updated.



q:
how to update setool2 card ? what do i need ?

a:

to update setool2 card, you need valid setool2 account, normal internet connection ( NOT proxy ), open TCP ports 443,1934
put updater ( updater[1].zip ) in setool2 directory, it will auto read settings from setool2.ini.
Or extract it to any desired directory and fill username,password,server manually.

Always get updater from this thread or from setool2 homepage !!!
current updater version is 0.95 !!!
any lower versions will NOT work !!!

on "operations" tab select with mouse click reader with setool2 card.
( remove all smartcards from pc except setool2 one in order to avoid misunderstanding )

you will get "Ready to work" text.
press "update card" button only after you get that.

you need 10 credits for initial card update.
Credits will be discounted AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT CONFIRMATION.

if your card eligible for update, you will see following text:

you will get usual "no credits" message in case if you do not have needed credits amount.


in time after time, we will update setool2 smartcard, corresponding notice will be posted in news.
for normal update you do not need any credits, but valid setool2 account required.
if your card eligible for normal update, you will see following text:

if you getting that text, you should post request in that thread with
- your account username
- setool2 card original serial
- reported recovery serial

admin will check issue and write resolution.



most bad thing that can happen:

that means your card was permanently tampered by some tools and you stuck to v1.106
nothing can be done at all.

please note, that after initial update you can only use setool2 version >= v1.107

how to activate LGTool ? what do i need ?

a:
LGTool will be automatically uploaded and activated during setool2 smartcard update procedure.
Please note, that in order to use LGTool version >= 2.0 you need to buy separate activation from LGtool.
Without such activation you can only use LGTool version <= 1.99.
Check lgtool support forum for details.

WARNING !!!

As there is too much "blocked" setool2 GEMALTO TOP cards,we investigated issue and found problem.

due to errors in controller firmware ( or due to incompatibility between smartcard/controller firmware/motherboard usb controller )
all smartcard readers i know, which are based on CY7C63001 are failed to send long data packet to/from smartcard.
it happens on some systems only, it can happen not immediately, but on "affected" system it happens always, earlier or later.

due to that, smartcard will receive WRONG command and SETOOL2 WILL BE "BLOCKED".
i can not find ANY solution to that problem, other than NOT using Cypress CY7C63001-based readers with setool2 cards.

THIS IS NOT RELATED TO "BLOCKED CARDMANAGER" ISSUE ( ERROR #6982 )

you can also identify such reader by smartcard reader name and driver name:

if you will use that readers, your setool2 smartcard WILL BE BLOCKED !

I will unblock such card ONLY ONCE.

my strong recommendation is use omnikey-based readers, like that,they are working 100% on any system :

SE-LG FUSION box with "EMV smartcard reader" working well too.

Usage of latest setool2 version is ABSOLUTE requirement.

because 99% of problems and solutions are same, i will clean thread once in week or so.
most common issues and solutions will be left as example.

to everybody, who posting messages about
username problems,
"request denied" problem for already updated card,
"request denied" problem for attempts to update non activated cards without credits,
"request denied" problem for attempts to update cards with "6982" errors and similar
"request denied" problem for using NOT current updater version
- read first post.

Such messages will be silently deleted.

I cant open the updater.exe!I get the message:"cant initialize smartcard subsystem"

install smartcard drivers,

i think you have reader on cypress.
change reader, while your card not blocked.

update log reset for 00174226.
make sure you NOT using cypress-based reader.
make sure you USING latest setool2 version.

this is example of my answer on PROPER request.
not proper requests will be silently deleted.

I have problem with my smart card... Setool2 smartcard not found, already check my cable, and reinstall, i think my smartcard is blocked, please help me

if smartcard is blocked, setool2 will display exactly that: smartcard is blocked
if you getting message "smartcard not found" with latest setool2 version - your card either not upgraded or some program already claimed reader with smartcard.
if card not updated - read first post and update it
in second case you should find that program and uninstall it.

also worth to check windows registry: run regedit.exe , go to key
